Here are the measurements I used for the kids apron. I cut the front and back fabric using the following measurements:

Next I cut the neck and waist straps with the following measurements:

After I cut out all the fabric I got all the straps ironed and sewed. Here is how I sewed each strap:

Each strap should end up being 1โ€ณ wide after folding. Once all the straps are folded together I sewed around the perimeter. In order to assemble the apron I laid down the front fabric pretty side up and placed all the straps where I want them, putting the unfinished short side of the strap lined up with the unfinished edges of the apron. I then sewed down the straps to keep them in place.

Do not sew down one side of the neck strap in order to make a breakaway strap using Velcro or a snap. Next place your back fabric on top pretty side down, tucking in all the straps inside. Pin the fabric all together and sew around the perimeter of the apron but leave a 3 inch hole so you can flip it right side out.

Once your apron is flipped right side out, sew a top stitch around the perimeter of the apron (which will also close up the hole you left to flip it). The last step is to add the snap or Velcro to the neck strap so that is breakaway and place the other half of the Velcro or snap to the upper corner of the apron.
